The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, Hosanna!   “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"  “Blessed is the King of Israel!"   Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written,  “Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt."

And he rode in for His triumphal entry on a donkey.         John 12:12-15

This past spring our Pastor taught on this donkey and it is still resounding in us today as we think, pray, and plan for the upcoming weekends.

We should serve because God tells us to, not because of the significance that it might have.

Oswald Chambers says (Nov 5th, My Utmost For His Highest) if you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a multitude of experiences that are not meant for you at all, they are meant to make you useful in His hands, and understand what transpires in other souls.  Furthermore, are we partakers in Christ’s sufferings?  Are we prepared for God to stamp our personal ambitions right out?  Are we prepared for God to destroy our individual determinations?  It will not mean that we know exactly why God is taking us that way, which would make us spiritual “prigs” (a smugly proper or prudish person).   We never realize at the time what God is putting us through; we go through it more or less misunderstanding; then we come to a luminous place and say….. “Why, God has girded me and I did not know it”

There is a huge spirit among us on the weekend—have you taken it to your fourth day...your church…your family…?

                                                                 Serve because you love Him,

                                                       Serve because you get to.

                                             Just serve!

This donkey knew not of its usefulness:

He knew not who he had on his back…

He knew not of the eternal significance of its walk that day…

He knew not of the importance to the kingdom of God…

He knew not where he was going…

He knew not...
